B+V Tour this March!!
posted 1/11/10 9:23pm by john
You may not be aware, but John and Steve are the rhythm section for a fantastic duo named Ben+Vesper.

While John was doing undergrad biomedical lab work In Chicago (summer 2005),
he came under the tutelage of one Ben Vesper, an acclaimed scientist in his own right.
After a series of experiments, Ben found he could actually HARNESS the power of John’s bass guitar,
sending subharmonic bass frequency into the neural pathways of his unwitting test subject,
percussionist extraordinaire Steve Oyola.

B+V tour

Together, they formed a musical juggernaut, one opening for Danielson on their March Tour.
Come see what science and metaphysics hath brought forth.
See you at the CrossRoads

We will be tri-headlining the bill with our good friends Shy Talkers and Eupana.

Ian McGlynn’s Christmas single
posted 12/1/09 5:58pm by john
On November 12 2005, Scott and I recorded six songs worth of piano tracks on Ian’s home upright. Five of those tracks ended up as album cuts or singles for his latest LP release, This Is the Sound. Before the tracking ended, Ian decided to throw in a Christmas song.

Two years later, he and I tracked the rest of it.

Two years later, Ian McGlynn is proud to release his instant Christmas classic, Listen to the Choir Sing: click the link for holiday happiness.

new interview
posted 10/9/09 5:54pm by john
I did an interview a couple months back in a Garfield Dunkin’ Donuts for Outlands Community with long time friend Roy Waidler, an experimental and innovative musician in his own right! Roy made me cassette copies of his myriad albums when I was growing up, and (I’m not sure if I ever told him this) he instilled in me the value of embracing the imagination in the creative process. Roy is the quintessential DIY, indie artist: the liner notes of his albums often say "illegal distribution and copying of this material is encouraged"!

The interview covers our musical backgrounds, worst shows, faith, touring and more: it was just released, here.
What is up with Holler?
posted 10/3/09 4:06pm by john
I get this question alot, and when I say, "nothing much", the response is often, " are you guys calling it quits?" NO y NUNCA. Besides opening for Switchfoot twice this summer, it just happened to be a quiet season of band life.

The band is 7 of 10 songs into writing our upcoming album, which we start recording post-holidays. We’ll be doing a Christmas song again too, but not an original.

We’re playing out at Messiah College November 4, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw Holler on an upcoming NYC showbill soon...

We should have video of our last two performances up on YouTube by the end of next week as well.

Yes we do own this domain, and yes we care. Welcome to this year's new Holler aesthetic; minimalism, anyone? One goal we're shooting for this year is to make our home site a place friends and fans can access exclusive content (i.e. songs, videos, photos and happenings), not hosted on the standard social networking platforms. We'll be tweaking the pages in the weeks and months to come, so check back frequently for updates.
